In the last 5 years, the number of commuters nationally who bicycle to work increased by 57%. Be it for promoting sustainability, wellness, cost savings or a combination of all reasons, individuals, businesses and communities are embracing the cycling lifestyle and pushing it forward.
The benefits are big and important – bike commuting increases productivity and morale while reducing absenteeism and can even lower healthcare expenses.
A small investment produces a big return.
Businesses and local governments can help encourage it by providing infrastructure, encouragement and reward for bike commuting. A team approach to provide the best in products, services, technology and infrastructure can get you started. We can help make these connections.
Lead by Example
In 2010, at Saris, we initiated our own Commuter Incentive Program to encourage our employees to ride to work. Our goal was to get 20% of our workforce to ride to work at least 20% of the time. In 2 years, we saw a 300% increase in active participation of our employees, burning over 4.4 million calories and riding over 100,000 miles.
